Reviews

Medication reviews

Thirty minutes, on a schedule you can read. One job: to look at how the plan is working and whether anything should change.

Many people come every few weeks at first and less often once things are steady. Your prescriber sets the pace with you, and the date of the next review is written in your summary.

Because most of our patients take several medicines from several doctors, each review starts with the whole list, not just ours.

At each review

What we go over

The same few things every time, so a change is easy to notice.

  • How you are

Sleep, appetite, energy and mood, in your words and in a short set of questions we ask each time.

  • Side effects

Dizziness, falls, stomach, a dry mouth, feeling foggy. We ask first and listen.

  • The whole list

Everything you take, including what other doctors added since last time.

  • One change, or none

If something should change, it is one thing, with a date to look again.

Between visits

Refills and questions

So nothing waits on the next appointment.

  • Refills

Ask a week ahead. We do not refill from a message when a review is due.

  • Questions

Send a message or call. The office answers on business days, and a nurse or prescriber replies about anything medical.

  • Your pharmacy

We send prescriptions to the pharmacy you choose, and we are glad to speak with your pharmacist.

Questions

Questions about reviews

How often will I come, and for how long?

A first session is 60 minutes and a medication review is 30. Your prescriber sets the pace with you: often every few weeks at first, and less often once things are steady.

Will I need blood tests?

Sometimes. Some medicines need a blood test or an electrocardiogram first or from time to time. Your prescriber says which and why, and can use results from your primary care doctor.

Do you prescribe controlled medicine by video?

Not on a first video visit. Some medicines for sleep, anxiety and attention are controlled by federal and Florida law, and the rules for video change. We tell you what applies to you before the visit, and we never prescribe a controlled medicine from a message.
